Above is a movie trailer I have watched and the genre of this film is, horror. The movie is called ‘The cabin in the woods’. Watching this, and several other movie openings has given me a rough idea about what openings of this particular genre (horror) tend to include and what skills are used in terms of camera shots, editing, sound and mise en scene to grab the audience attention and keep them at the edge of their seat!

Screen Play for my film idea – The Purge
This is my first draft of a screen play which I completed in my AS media lesson today. We worked throughout both lessons to produce an industry standard screenplay. For something I’ve done for the first time I don’t think I have done too badly. I enjoyed working on this screenplay. And the purpose of this is to inform me, as well as my audience about my ideas and what I am looking to include in my movie opening

I’ve changed my mind!
I have decided to scrap the idea of ‘The Heist’ and instead have gone for a scarier, however funny movie opening. Stay tuned folks…
The Heist – Brief treatment for my film.
Tagline: Walk the walk, talk the talk, stalk the stalk…
Thriller: A well set up heist. The kidnap of a teenager from a rich family.
About a teenager. Behaves like a typical teenager. Has friends, has a social life. Has a family who cares for him, rich, strong financial status, well looked after. Show the lifestyle of the teenager for a better understanding with he audience. Gets what he wants. Is mostly out with his friends. Has someone stalking him all the time without his knowledge. Social media, follows him without his knowledge, knows everything about him and what he does. He goes out one day, alone. Comes back home at night, realises he’s being followed by a man wearing all black. As he walks through the subway the man gets closer and closer to him. Teenager walks through town centre where there are cameras in an attempt to stay safe and starts to sprint. Stumbles over, gets caught and kidnapped. A bag is put over his face. The scene is suspense. Add sound effects, heartbeats, and thrilling tune.

This is my film story board that I have created for my film opening. My drawing skills aren’t great, however I drew out my ideas in an attempt to make clear what my movie opening will contain and I have also outlined what will happen in my film opening. This also helps me to understand what the opening will briefly look like.
